Israel: Day 1

May 7, 2011

Here we come!

Headed to Israel! Dan and I off to Israel where we’ll meet up with Isaac and Courtney. What a trip! It’s like a pre-wedding honeymoon sort of, except I do not expect this trip to be relaxing. We have a lot of ground to cover and a lot of people to visit. I spent a lot of time organizing a very ambitious 10-day itinerary. We’ll see what we accomplish! Anyway, it’ll be amazing for Dan to meet my Israeli family and for the four of us to do a little brother/ brother-in-law and sister-in-law bonding. The REAL relaxation will take place after the wedding on our honeymoon. But for now, let’s take one trip at a time…

After 12 hours on the plane, we finally catch a glimpse of the Israeli coastline:

Once in Israel, Doryon picks us up at the airport. After a little catching up with our aunt, uncle and cousins, we’re off to meet the ketubah artist we found online who lives in Jerusalem. We want him to design our ketubah! Yehudit dropped us off at his house.

After our meeting with Izzy Pludwinski, we catch up with everyone once again.

Off we go to explore Jerusalem at night.

Great synagogue:

The streets of downtown Jerusalem:

Sheesha bar:

Dan and Isaac’s first malawach. Delicious!

And finally our first very long day in Israel comes to an end.
