Visiting Isaac in Washington DC
Courtney was on a work trip in Tunisia, so it was just Isaac that Dan and I went to visit in DC.
We took the Megabus from Philly right after I finished work on Saturday:
We got there in the early evening, and Isaac gave us a tour of his building. His rooftop is awesome, you can see the whole city from there.
We walked through Chinatown
And partied Isaac-style….
The next day it was really nice out. We rented Capital Bikeshare bikes and rode all around the city. (I hope they bring this to Philly by the way, it’s a great idea.)
Our first few stops on bicycle were to some open houses. Isaac and Courtney are in the market to buy a house and so are Dan and I. In fact, Dan and I have been spending our Sundays doing exactly this in Philly — biking or scooting around to open houses. Some of the streets and houses reminded me of Philly (only bigger, cleaner streets), but the big difference in DC is the housing market itself; it’s SO MUCH more expensive here!!!!!
Next stop: Eastern Market in Washington DC.
Capitol Hill:
Biking through some pretty gardens. Washington DC is REALLY clean, by the way!
The Washington Monument:
The White House!
More biking… we did a lot of biking looking for Capital Bikeshare bike docks. The first half hour of your ride is free, so we tried to ride in half hour increments.
The OTHER side of the White House:
Since we had been casually house hunting, Dan decided to look up the value of the White House on Zillow.com 263 million dollars! (He also looked at neighboring houses — the 3 million dollar house across the street seems like a bargain!)
Then, Isaac took us to see the Washington DC Occupy protesters, which seem to be a bit of a tourist attraction on the weekends.
Isaac looking for our next bike docking station:
More DC markets, this one seemed to be a pop-up holiday market:
We ended the day with juicy burgers from 5 Guys Burger and Fries before Dan and I hopped the Megabus back to Philly. Thanks for showing us around, Isaac!
