In Sandwich, Massachusetts
Jeremy is Dan’s first cousin, so it was nice to celebrate with Dan’s extended family; especially since many family members had either come to our wedding or been in touch about our wedding nearly three months earlier, so I sort of knew some of the family members on Dan’s mom’s side who were there.
Dan’s brother Dave and sister in law Mary were also there, so it was a lot of fun to hang out with them!
…and it was a lot of fun to practice taking photos with the new camera Dan got me for my birthday. When the batteries from that camera ran out, I had my back up pocket camera, but most of the party I shot lots of great photos with the professional camera. I LOVE the big camera! Here are some of my favorite pics and videos from the wedding:
Dan’s Uncle Joey is Jeremy’s dad. (Joey and his wife Abby were recently in Philadelphia at our wedding.)
Melanie’s dad:
I LOVED their wedding cake / cupcakes!!! (I ate two chocolate ones. Yum!)
The happy couple’s first dance:
Party on the dance floor!
But the party REALLY got going when it started “raining men”….
The wedding ended with a splash!
Unfortunately, my really nice camera had run out of battery power, so I had to rely on my pocket camera to take this video and it wouldn’t focus.
Anyway, the wedding was a great party with a lot of personality. It’s been so awesome getting to know Dan’s family. I love it that Dan and I are in the same place in life as his cousin. Jeremy and Melanie are clearly a really fun and creative couple. Also, I love that Jeremy’s dad has so much insight into Dan’s family. It’s fun to hang out with that part of the family. Uncle Joey and Dan’s mom Marilyn were siblings and they were really close; and since she passed away several years ago, we can’t ask her family history questions. So instead, Joey can fill us in on the family tree (I love that stuff), and this whole experience has been pretty amazing.
The next morning, we said goodbye to everyone at a bagel breakfast and headed home for the 7 hour drive back to Philly. The coolest part of the drive? Dan set his phone to be a wifi hot spot, so I was able to blog our weekend on the drive!!!!!
So congrats Mel and Jeremy; have an amazing time in Hawaii — and I can’t wait to get home to our cats!
