Royal Celebrations at the Four Seasons!

The Royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton was a royal affair in Philadelphia.

I volunteered to get up early and cover the story at 4am for work. I wanted to watch the wedding!

The Four Seasons had a very special royal breakfast, where those who attended dressed up in fancy clothes and hats, as if they were actually attending the wedding! One woman I spoke with even made a copy of the royal invitation off the internet and renamed herself the Princess of Richmond and told me she came with her “Queen Mum,” the Dutchess of Chester. It was too cute.

As you see from the photo above, the Four Seasons got into it too, complete with British guards… and later, they also had Royal Trumpeters. They even had a box of “fascinators” for women who didn’t have hats to choose from. A fascinator is like a big feather or disc-like ornament that you wear on your head. (I’m wearing a pink feather fascinator in this photo with the guards.)

For some reason I’ve been totally obsessed with this wedding. I find it mesmerizing. I don’t know if it’s just because I’m planning my own wedding, or because this fairtale is so wierd, but I’ll be really relieved when the hoopla of this royal wedding is finally over. I find myself thinking about it a lot — too much, I think! Anyway, congrats Will and Kate!
