A short trip comes to an end!
Tiffany and Johnny arranged to come with Melissa, Laverne and I to San Jose, but none of us were in a big rush to leave the paradise of the Tabacon hot springs so we spent our last morning together there relaxing.
In the late afternoon, we said goodbye to Tabacon and the hotsprings and took a shuttle to the town of Fortuna where we would catch a bus to San Jose. As we left, we waved goodbye to the Arenal Volcano!
The bus ride to San Jose would be FOUR HOURS LONG. We bought our tickets (for $4 each!) and stopped by a “soda” for some beans and rice. Luckily, we all got a seat. Lunch was eaten on the bus… and then the movement of the bus rocked me to sleep. Sort of.
By the time we got to San Jose, it was already dark outside. We took a cab to a hostel where Laverne and I would only be spending a few hours. We got dressed and went out for our final dinner altogether. Oh, we were so tired and hungry! Nothing that a good meal and a glass of wine can’t cure…
Laverne and I said goodnight to Melissa, Johnny and Tiffany who walked us to our room. A few hours later, we had to get up (in the middle of the night!) to catch an early morning flight out of San Jose to Newark, then to Philadelphia. Tiffany would be leaving the next night. Johnny was staying for an extra couple of days and he planned to join Melissa — who was staying in Costa Rica for 6 additional days — on a trip to the coast to go surfing.
As for me, I was a little sad to go home, but excited too. I was really missing Dan on this trip. Home, here I come!!!
