Fasting, Friends and Family
As sunset fell on Yom Kippur Eve, Dan and I prepared for the Yom Kippur fast with a special meal with friends.
Dan cooked the most amazing chicken parmesean, and Marlo brought over cake that we topped with coffee ice cream whipped cream and strawberries.
After our tummy-busting feast, it was off to meet Isaac and Courtney in synagogue. It was really nice to spend the holiday in synagogue sitting next to a smiling Dan. Then Isaac and Courtney gave us a ride home.
The next day
We met Isaac and Courtney for another round of synagogue in the city. Soon, we headed out to the suburbs and stopped by Tamir and Jen’s house on our way to the family synagogue service.
Dan is so great with kids, and he genuinely enjoys playing with my nieces and nephews (as well as his own niece and nephew, which is super cute). Those kids really like him back!!!!
It took no time for them to climb all over him. He responded by flipping them.
And of course I love playing with those kids, too!!!!
Leo is all ready for the high holidays in his mini clip-on tie.

We all went to synagogue where we met up with the rest of the family. I had chocolate in my purse to break the fast with after they blew the shofar to mark the end of Yom Kippur.
Then it was off to mom and dad’s house to eat dinner and play with all the kids!
Dan brought his shofar over to my parents house and the little kids (unsuccessfully) tried to blow into it.
Dan also brought his guitar over, and now it was time for the musical interlude of the evening:
Then it was dessert time. Mom remembered my birthday as she remembers everyone’s… with her famous chocolate m&m birthday cake!
Me and my brothers… with Aviva trying to get into the pic, too.
Later in the night is when uncle Isaac got his workout in for the day as he flipped and spun and threw the kids around and they LOVED it.
It was a really nice holiday.
