Israel: Arrival

July 20, 2010

I’m home!

It was so great to arrive in Israel! My uncle Doryon picked me up from the airport. Since he works there, he met me before I even went through passport control! Off to Jerusalem!
I saw Yehudit, Itay and Omri (Neta is doing a leadership program in America; my parents have joked that we’re doing a daughter-exchange program this week).

After dinner out on the back porch, Omri and I drove off to visit Safta in Netanya. Yehudit and Doryon hooked me up with a car and a phone this week, so I’m all set!

Omri and I had some quality cousin time in the car as we sang songs off the radio in Hebrew and English and Safta was excited to see us.

Then we drive off to the kibbutz I used to live on when I was in the army – Kibbutz Bachan – to visit my “adoptive” family.

Marian and Bianca are so awesome; and I thought only their youngest son would be around, but they managed to gather the whole crew and that was pretty awesome.

There is so much new construction in Israel right now! Every neighborhood is being developed; Kibbutz Bachan is almost unrecognizable. I’m sure in two years, it will be a totally new Israel.

Later Omri and I drove back to Jerusalem and crashed out around 1am.

The next day

Go up super early to catch a ride with Yehudit to Tel Aviv. Going to have breakfast with my friend Yael from the army. Oh, how I miss her! Going back to Jerusalem with her tonight.
