Eat, Swim, Sleep.
Today was such a beautiful, fun, relaxing day. Most of it was spent on our awesome boat!
In the early afternoon, we arrived in the Turkish port city of Datca. Datca is a small town and like Bodrum, it’s also a party town. However, because it’s so small, there’s not a lot of place to dock right on the town, so we docked on the other side of a little mountain, a 5 minute cab ride from Dotcha. It’s actually much nicer docking a little bit away from the town. It’s still and quiet here (no pounding disco music) and everyone’s chilling out and winding down all over the boat after a sun-filled day. Also, I must add that the sky out here is amazing. It’s vast and full of stars, and the weather is perfect; not too hot with a slight breeze off the Agean sea.
Anyway, as soon as we docked in this paradise the first thing we did was jump into the sea and swim.
After swimming it was time for lunch! We have a handful of crew members who cook for us, and they sure are talented! The food on the boat is so fresh and delicious. Every meal is like a meal from a great restaurant. We ate, and then relaxed on the deck for a bit.
Then more swimming! We were jumping and diving off the boat!
Koray diving:
Alexis diving:
Ava jumping:
The water was so clear you could not only see your feet, but we could see all the way down to the sand at the bottom! It must’ve been about 20 feet deep where we were and the visibility was just amazing.
That’s not a pool that’s the sea!!!
Then we decided to go and see Dotcha a little, so the little motorboat from our ship ferried us to the shore and we took a taxi to the town.
We didn’t get too far into Dotcha before spotting a beach bar and since chilling, eating and swimming from the boat is such hard work, we decided to take a break from it all and have a drink together on the beach (Ava and Alexis had sodas, of course).
We also ate Turkish ice cream in town:
In town, Koray bought noodles and an inflatable raft for everyone to play with rest of this week when we swim in the sea, so we brought all that stuff back to the boat.
More chillin’
Then at night we had a barbecue as our ship-captain-slash-head-chef grilled up the most amazing fish on a grill he propped up on the side of the boat!
We hung out at the table talking and laughing and telling stories for a good long while before we started breaking off and doing our own things. I’m heading off to bed, now where I know I’m going to sleep really well tonight!
