Wine, Mansions and Celebrities

I feel like a baller…

My Saturday night started off with Missy at the Pennsylvania Wine Fest at the Philadelphia Marriott.

I don’t think we got the full effect of the event though. This was for hard-core wine-lovers. There were signs all over the place that said “drink responsibly,” but there was minimal food… and after the margaritas from the night before, I sort of laid off the wine. Missy isn’t a big drinker anyway, notice in this video she’s drinking water:

We did have fun though in the VIP lounge (Missy worked it!) where they had comfy couches, food and gourmet chocolates!

Next it was off to our next spot in Old City, where we met up with Marlo.

I had gotten this interesting invitation to come to a roofdeck party with a pool at an Old City condo. The invite mentioned something about a grotto and said “feel free to bring your bathing suit to swim.” I had no idea what to expect.

Once we got to the elusive 3rd and Chestnut location (I had no idea that the building where Haru Restaurant is is a condo) there were security guards in front of steps that led downstairs to what looked like a basement. We opened the door to find a beautiful bar and a grotto!!!

Apparently, this grotto/bar is a private area that belongs exclusively to the penthouse unit. We went up to see the rest of the condo….

It was totally baller.

The bedroom had a full jacuzzi and there were doors that opened up to a roofdeck overlooking 3rd Street. I shot a short video of the room.

So the story behind this party is that the owner is selling it and this party was his way of throwing the ultimate open house for people to see it. The condo was originally on the market for $4 million. The PR woman who invited me to the party explained that Donovan McNabb made an offer of $3.5 million on the condo, but the deal fell through because there was no garage inside the building and he didn’t want to have to cross the street (and get mobbed by his football fans) every time he came home.

Now it’s on the market for a mere $1.95 million in case anyone’s interested.

Anyway, back to our tour…

The living room was beautiful. This is the ultimate bachelor pad. I noticed there was a bar in almost every room.

And this is my favorite — check out this amazing bathroom!!!!

And speaking of “being baller” we actually ran into a real live baller… World Championship Phillies baseball player Jimmy Rollins was at the party! Missy was so excited she grabbed my camera and went off to get a photo with him. Go Missy!

I wonder who else in this room could afford to buy this condo???

Not I…. yet.

Here’s the downstairs bar on the way out.

Just beautiful.
