Snow Patrol

Here we snow again!

At work today, I went out hunting for people who both love and hate the snow. I was looking to find people playing outside. As I explored the city and this East Falls park, I noticed that the snow was knee-deep!!!

Kids were sledding and collecting snowball ammunition:

This little girl Emma was the lone girl in a group of boys and she was so cool. She snowboarded circles around them.

Here I am in front of that hill on which I found the kids playing (notice all the snow in my hair!):

This woman was out building a snowman. I told her I though she was a kid from afar and she told me yes, she’s a 40-year-old kid!

This little 6 (and a half) year old boy Henry was out cross country skiing with his dad:

…but it wasn’t just the kids who were out playing in the snow! These folks were snow-shoeing and skiing on Kelly Drive.

But these high school kids were my favorite. They were out shoveling snow, earning money to take their dates out for Valentine’s Day this Sunday! They were in such a good mood not be at school today, and together earned $127. That’s a pretty nice double date for eleventh graders!

Here’s the view of Old City on my way to work in the morning:

A couple days earlier

I was called into work on Sunday, too — and on my way home at night from my my evening in the “Storm Center” I snapped a few photos of Old City. You can actually see the slushy snow falling in these photos!

I had just two blocks to walk. By the time I got home, my hair was frozen.

Saturday Snow

The previous Saturday we got our first round of snow for 2010. It was really pretty, then. Of course I took some photos on my way to work. These are nice…. but after a week of not being able to ride my bike around town, I think I’m ready for Spring, now.
