Memories of Princeton, IL!
My old boss Steve and his wife Bernie came out to Philadelphia for the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention. I worked for him at my first job TEN years ago, back at WZOE radio in Princeton, Il. It was so nice to see them again!
Bernie and I chatted about my first Thanksgiving in town, when I didn’t plan to go home for the holiday. It was so nice when she invited me to come spend that holiday with their family. (I tend to get the feeling they took in a lot of the new young reporters that came to work at the radio station under their wing. I certainly felt as though they watched out for me, after all.) I spent my first two professioanl years with Steve at WZOE and it made a huge impression on me. I learned so much and I really did grow to love that town. Princeton will always have a special place in my heart.
After a nice dinner at Union Trust steakhouse, we walked to South Street for some Phileo Yogurt. Steve told me later frozen yogurt is his new favorite thing.
It was so nice to catch up. As much time has passed, some things never change. I can’t believe it’s been a decade since I got my very first professional broadcasting job! Wow!
