Day trip to Bartram Gardens

Okay, now THIS was fun.

After getting a warm-up on our outdoors-y weekend at Camp Galil, Mike and I joined a group of 14 other kayakers and paddled down the Schuylkill River. Our destination: Bartram Gardens.

What I liked best about this was that it’s such a hidden gem of an activity in Philadelphia!

Mike and I were in a two-person kayak, which is a lot more difficult to maneuver than a one-person kayak. By the end, we got the hang of it. I have to say, I was pretty impressed by our teamwork.

Once at Bartram Gardens, we pulled up on shore and hiked a bit to our destination. Mike decided to be director of photography in this particular video:

We arrived at a clearing, where the folks from the Kayak tours set up our boxed lunches.

Behind us, was the city.

Then we did a little exploring.

Then, it was back into the kayaks for our hour-long paddle back to Philly! I had a great time. Who cares that Mike and I docked last! We laughed the most!
