New Years Eve

This year was a significantly calmer New Years than in previous years. Went to a party in the burbs and a house party in the city… and while there WERE a couple of other parties on the agenda, the rest never happened.
Watched the fireworks from the balcony of my friend Gabi’s condo and toasted with some champagne, but I had to go to bed (relatively) early to be back up for Mummers news coverage the next day.
New Years Day
New Years Day in Philadelphia is all about the Mummers.

…and they like to start them young:

I had to be at the station at 7am. Even though I didn’t rage the previous night, it was still a rough morning. New Years day was crisp and sunny, but it was so cold I could hardly manage to push the buttons on my recorder! Of course, many Mummers were already up and very much awake. Many had begun the celebrations with drinks the night before. Oh, New Years in the City of Brotherly Love!!!
